Welcome to Hertfordshire Puddingstone - we are an independent, not-for-profit business working to celebrate our creativity and heritage, build local networks, and strengthen our sense of community and place. 

 

As far as possible, our services are provided free and we have four main areas of activity:

1. Promoting citizen-led events and activities that strengthen contacts within and across communities
2. Championing and supporting Hertfordshire's independent "creatives" - makers, artisans, performers, crafters and artists
3. Supporting and encouraging new or emerging charities and community groups 
4. Celebrate our shared Hertfordshire heritage  

 

Promoting activities and events

 

We do this mainly through our Events calendar and we plan to start building our social media profile. We focus on promoting events that are genuinely community-led, strengthen a sense of place, provide opportunities for positive human connections, or that provide opportunities for local creators to present or sell their work.

 

We will not usually promote "for profit" events, political events, or events managed by statutory agencies. But we will consider all our criteria when making a decision. If you know of an event we should be promoting, please send as many details and links as you can to: bobjones@puddingstone.uk. 

 

Supporting Hertfordshire's independent "creatives"

 

Our website will include relevant news and events, and we will host a network of local makers and artists so people can share news, information and learning. We will highlight the role creativity plays in finding beauty, building community and supporting wellbeing - and we will explore ways we can promote creativity and help make creative activities more sustainable.  

 

Support for small groups

 

We will host a network for small community groups including a regular monthly informal discussion for people to share problems and solutions. If you are interested, please join the Puddingstone website and tick the "small group" option when registering. 

 

Celebrating our shared heritage

 

We will highlight and celebrate everything that makes up Hertfordshire's distinctive character and heritage: our shared treasure trove of history, traditions, individuals, events, art, buildings, writing, groups, industries, settlements, businesses, wildlife and habitats.
